Unboxing your new Gilly Goon!

Gilly Goons travel far and wide to make it to their forever homes—often in a tiny box, maybe a bumpy road or two—and your fuzzy friend might need a little love when you awaken them from their voyage.

Here are a few tips on their first moments at home!

  1. Lend them a hand!

The first step in bringing your Gilly Goon to life is to put them on your hand, pull ‘em tight, and wake ‘em up! Right-handed or left, just see what feels most natural to you. There are no rules here!

  2. Shake, shake, shake!

You’ll notice that their beautiful fur coat may be a bit matted down from their voyage, so don’t be shy with this one. Close your hand tight (closing the mouth) and shake that Goon left, right, up, and down. Really give ‘em a shake and watch their fur come back to life.

  3. Give ‘em a pet

At this point, your Gilly Goon probably looks like they were struck by lightning. Hey, maybe that’s their vibe!? But if not, use your hand to gently pet and mold their fur in whatever style you think looks best. Maybe their mustache is parted in the middle? Maybe the hair on their head looks great slicked back?

  4. Grab a comb

Using your fingers to shape their fur is a great look, but if you want to take things a step further, grab a brush or comb and witness a new level of cute. Generally, you want to brush their hair in its natural direction, but again, no rules! Do you!

  5. Hairspray

If you’ve landed on a great look and want to keep it that way, feel free to give that Goon a little hairspray to lock it in. These puppets are meant to be played with hard, so the hairspray can help keep that fur in place.

  6. Trim

Yes, these Goons arrive with a specific look, but it’s your baby! If hairs need a little fine-tuning (covering the eyes, getting stuck in the mouth, etc.), or even if you want to make big changes (get rid of that mustache altogether), grab some scissors and make those tweaks. We recommend taking it slow with a little trim here and there, just to be on the safe side.

  7. Have fun!

Gilly Goons exists to spread joy, encourage imagination, and just be a good ol’ time for all! So don’t hold back—toss them around, take them outside, and let them kiss the dog. If anything ever happens—rips, tears, lost eyeballs—just reach out, and we’ll do our best to help you fix it yourself. If it’s more serious, you can ship it to us, and we’ll fix ‘em up good as new!

There are so many ways to hang out with your Goon (and we’ll have many more articles on that soon), but we hope these tips help make your adoption unboxing the best it can be.

Have fun!
